In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, many industries are slowly getting back to its feet. Sports leagues were one of the first to shut down in mid-March in a series of highly publicized announcements. Remember when the NBA announced a covid-positive player minutes before a game was to start? But now, sports leagues are better-informed, and are preparing to return to business. US Sports Leagues Schedule
MLB
The Major League Baseball (MLB) is still in between contract negotiations. Salaries and game schedules, even the number of games, are still under discussion. The proposal is to begin by July 10, and will end by October 10.
NBA
The NBA will be returning in late July, but the process to restart the season will be done in early July. There will be a 22-team format, where teams will play 8 regular season games each to determine seeding. All games will be held at Disney World in Florida. Bookie Pay Per Head sportsbooks will be offering lines on this soon enough, as more concrete plans emerge.
MLS
Major League Soccer will be returning by July 8 via the MLS is back tournament. 26 teams will be joining, and will be held in the same venue as the NBA (the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Disney). There will be a three-game group stage. Next, the winning teams will move to the round of 16 knockout stage, and so on. The Final is set on August 11. Then, the regular season will resume shortly after.
NFL
Things are still on schedule for the NFL, with a tentative start date of September 10.
NCAA Sports
So far, there are no announcements on postponing NCAA sports. The schedule is still the same, with plans to begin by late August and late September. Trainings will resume as early as the second week of July.
